'The DunBear' in Dunbar, Scotland

The DunBear is built of structural steel with a stainless-steel cladding.  The sculpture is positioned on a base planted with wildflowers.  On a night it is lit-up, powered by renewable energy sources.

The name of the sculpture was chosen as the result of a competition between local schools and The DunBear, a mixture of Dunbar and bear, was voted as the favourite.

The bear was chosen because it symbolises the role Dunbar-born naturalist John Muir played in establishing national parks and helping preserve brown bears.

The sculpture was created by Andy Scott, who is most famous for the Kelpies in Falkirk.  The DunBear was completed in 2019,  and then unveiled in November that year.
