William Rory Gallagher (1948-1995) was an accomplished Irish blues rock, rhythm and blues, and rock musician, songwriter and producer. He was the founder of the band Taste but he also enjoyed a successful solo career. Unable to survive a liver transplant he died on June 14, 1995 in London. Rory Gallagher Corner is a humble monument to honor his life’s work and the impact he had on the country. The Edge of U2, and the Lord Mayor of Dublin attended the unveiling of the monument on June 16, 2006.
The instrument on display was at first the original guitar of the artist. Patinated and damaged by the Dublin weather, it was eventually removed by Rory’s own brother, and replaced with a replica guitar.
